The "Clara Cape"
This cape is named after Clara Bow who was born in Brooklyn in 1905, and skyrocketed from poverty into stardom as the original “It Girl” of the 1920s. She became a silent film sensation who seamlessly transitioned into talking movies. She embodied the flapper spirit with bobbed hair, cupid ’s-bow lips, and a carefree sexuality that redefined modern womanhood. This cape is feminine, timeless, versatile and quirky, just like her. Her onscreen presence and offscreen style made her a global fashion icon, popularizing miniskirts, provocative outfits, cloche hats, and a liberated attitude that set the template for youthful rebellion. Though she retired young and faced personal struggles, her legacy endures as the face of Jazz Age glamour and a catalyst for the enduring archetype of the bold, independent starlet.
This cape is double-sided/ reversible with a deadstock 70% wool and poly fabric blend. The silhouette of this piece is made to give the illusion of an hourglass figure that was popular in this time period. It honestly feels like a hug to wear too its so comfy!
